Regretfully I have to advise that former Club Manager , Committee Member and Vice President, Ernie Springham, passed away last week, our condolences go to his family and all that knew him. As a mark of respect, a Minutes Silence should be held before all games this coming Sunday , 13th September.
League President Peter Drum stated ; Ernie joined the Committee in 2003 as a Club Representative alongside Dennis McCrystal. In 2004 he became a Competition Secretary dealing with Divisions 1 and 2 and was a member of the Competitions Committee.In 2005 he took up the post of Social Development Secretary and became a member of the Development Committee in 2006 at which time he gave up his post of Competition Secretary. In 2008 he became a member of the Social Committee which at that time began the process of developing ideas for the 60th anniversary of the League. In 2010 he became Publicity Secretary and in 2012 added the post of Press Secretary, his last position was to be a member of the Committee without portfolio this position he held until he retired from the Committee in 2017. A number of times during his period of office Constitution Committees were held at his home in Carpenders Park.
Prior to joining the Committee, Ernie was the successful Manager of Queens Old Boys FC which he created in 2000 and entered the League in Division 5, which they won at their first attempt. This Club competed until 2006 when they finished as runners up to St Joseph's in the Premier Division and immediately ahead of Oakview.
He will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him.
Reluctantly the Competitions Committee has made the decision to suspend all Hertfordshire FA County Cup Competitions for the 2020-21 Season. Please see link below for more details;
WSFL Cup Competitions 2020/21 – Update – 2nd Oct 2020
On the 24th September, Hertfordshire FA announced that there would be no County Cup Competitions this season due to the Covid 19 situation and so that Leagues could complete their Fixtures etc successfully and avoid either having to null and void or use calculations to complete their seasons.
This season the League had reduced it’s Cup Competitions to initially four with a planned review of this in January 2021. This decision was made based the Covid situation and restrictions in August which of course have now changed and may indeed change again over the coming weeks and months. We are currently continuing with the Cup Competitions and will be playing rounds to bring these to the Quarter Final stages before the end of the year at which point we will review the situation again in January 2021.
We would like all clubs to note that in January if the current situation and restrictions dictate, it may be necessary to either suspend or void some or all Cup Competitions if it looks like we cannot complete them/play finals, or it would seriously effect the completion of Divisional matches and a natural end to the season.
We will be attempting to complete all Divisional matches and Cup Competitions by the end of the season , however of course completing Divisional matches will be our main priority .
